Gunslinger Emergency Manual Well Pump

Finding the right well pump is a challenge that many well owners know and understand. We have found an incredible hand pump that addresses many of the problems with existing hand well pumps.

This fantastic pump has a very simple and effective design, which means fewer moving parts and a much lower likelihood of breaking. Since it is not made of hard PVC pipes, it is easy to remove from your well and can even be used in streams and lakes if you are camping or out in the woods.

The innovative design requires no holes drilled into your well cover and allows you to store this pump inside your well so that no handle is sticking out for people to see, kids to play with or trip over and break.

Our Emergency Manual Well Pump is so easy to use that even kids can pump and get water to flow. The smart design allows any one with some basic handyman skills to adjust the length of the pipe so that your pipe depth hits the ideal and optimum level for your well.

Why You'll Love This Emergency Manual Well Pump

No Assembly Required – Take it out of the box and put it in the well. (You may need to adjust pipe length for optimal performance).

Lightweight – Our pump unit weighs less than 15 lbs. complete. It also weighs less when pumping water since a smaller diameter hose means you are pushing a lighter column of water.

One-Piece Design – Simple construction means it is less likely to break at connection points like PVC section pumps. Also, it is less affected by cold weather.

Flexible Design – Simple to take in and out of your well. Even works in streams and lakes.

Adjustable Lengths – It’s quite simple to adjust pipe length with some standard tools and a little elbow grease. See instructions for help with that process.

Easy, Hidden Storage – Store your pump inside the well housing and take it out when you need it, or roll it up and store it in your garage. No holes are drilled in your pump cover and there is not a pump handle sticking out of the top of your well, waiting to be broken by kids or weather. Innovative design for storage helps to keep your well safe from contamination.

Dependable – We utilize a one moving part design using stainless steel and aluminum pump parts and a metal handle. The only thing that would ever need replacement are a couple of o-rings and it would take thousands of pumps before that would be required. If replacement becomes necessary, it requires unscrewing one fitting and replacing an o-ring that can be found at most hardware stores and performed by almost anyone.

Economical – Half the cost of many of our competitors.

Easy to Pump – Even kids can get water from our pump.

Please note that this pump does not filter water for drinking purposes.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Gunslinger Emergency Manual Well Pump

How do I know the depth of my well?

It is common for a well to be 200+ feet deep and people may assume that our product won’t work in their well because the well is too deep. Before purchasing a Gunslinger hand well pump it is important to know the actual water level in your well.

It is possible to have a 200′ deep well and a water level of 75′.  If your water level is 70’- 100′ we would recommend that you purchase 100’ pump. If your water level is 65’-85’ feet then we recommend the 75’ pump. If you water level is 30’-40’ then we recommend a 50′ pump and for shallow well of 10’- 20’ use the 25’ option.

The pump’s length can easily be shortened, so when in doubt order the longer pump and adjust it to the length that best suits your well. If you order a pump that is too short, then give us a call and we will trade your pump for a longer one. There will be shipping costs associated with this, so to avoid the hassle for yourself, below are tips to determine your water level before you purchase.

To find your water level there are a few options:

  • Check property records at your local county or city office.
  • You can ask your well driller or or pump installer if they have the records of where you hit water.
  • You can make a simple measuring device. Tie a steel nut onto a roll of string and then attach a small fishing float to the string about an inch or two above the nut. Carefully lower the string down into the well until the string shows slack. Next, tie a knot in the string at that point. Pull the string out and measure the distance between the float and the knot.
  • It is usually marked on the side of some well casings. (May only tell well depth, but not water level.)

Some wells have a smaller diameter casing with obstructions in it such as a pitless adapter. To measure the water in such a well you may need to insert a piece of 1-1/4″ PVC pipe down inside the well casing to just beyond the obstruction, and lower the string inside the pipe to prevent the string from tangling.

Can the length be adjusted if I order the wrong length?

The pump can easily be shortened, but not lengthened. If you order a pump that is too short, we will be happy to exchange it for you, but you will need to cover shipping charges to return the pump and to have a new one sent out.
Check out our video (on the Videos tab, above) to learn how to shorten the length of the pump assembly.

What's the diameter of the Gunslinger well pump? How much space do I need in my well casing?

Our pumps need a 1-3/4″ clearance inside the well casing. Most wells can easily accommodate this. But know that you may need to slightly lift, twist, wiggle and worm the Gunslinger pump and its flexible tubing around your current water pipe and/or electrical lines to get the pump assembly to hang freely inside your well. Refer to the instructions for more hints and tips regarding its installation.

Most modern wells are fitted with a pitless adapter. In some narrow well casings, the bulk of the adapter may present a challenge to get the Gunslinger pump to pass by and clear the obstruction.

We found this outstanding article, written several years ago and posted on Instructables.com, that outlines the procedures to remove and replace a submersible well pump. You do not need to go through this entire process. But the article describes in detail how to raise the pump assembly, out of the pitless adapter’s bracket, which is attached to the well casing. By raising the assembly just high enough to clear the well head (usually 4ft. or less), you can then insert the Gunslinger pump and flexible pipe into your well, and lower it to the proper depth. Then simply set your well pipe’s pitless adapter back into its bracket.

The article itself is extremely informative for anyone who has a submersible pump. If you ever need to replace your existing pump, having this information available could save you thousands of dollars that you might otherwise spend with a well drilling or repair service.

It also has vital information on sanitizing your well, to prevent contamination.

Can this pump be used to pump more than just water?

We have had customers who are into preparing for apocalyptic-type scenarios who order pumps in order to pump gasoline out of abandoned stations etc. Our pumps are of course not designed or intended for this purpose. But they may have many applications besides just pumping water.

Do you ship free to any state?

We offer free shipping to any state except Alaska and Alaska. If your order from these states there will be additional shipping charges applied.

If my pump has a problem what should I do?

If your pump does not work for any reason, please let us know. We will walk you through potential trouble shooting, and if needed send you out a completely new pump. We want every customer to be completely satisfied.
