The unit employs close-quarter cartridges, which allow the electrified probes that it fires to reach their optimal spread from as close as 3 feet away from an assailant. It can also reach as far away as 12 feet, giving you a greater range of protection.Â
The 7CQ holds two cartridges, so if you miss your target, you will still have a backup cartridge available.
Additionally, the cartridges have improved darts that generate twice the kinetic energy of past models so that they fly faster and straighter. This decreases the chances of ricochets and increases the chances of connecting to your target and penetrating clothing.
The dart bodies also break away upon impact to make it easier to attach them when shooting at tough angles.
Once a target is hit, the stun feature of the TASER 7CQ Home Defense uses an adaptive cross connect feature that maximizes the effectiveness of the probe’s deployment. It can compensate for close probe spreads or clothing disconnects by pulsing the electricity between all points of contact in 5-second cycles.Â
This means that if you hit an assailant with only three of the four probes, it is still just as effective.
An integrated warning arc triggers a visible and audible warning directly over the front of live cartridges. This is often enough of a deterrent to scare off would-be attackers.
To help improve your aim, the TASER 7CQ has a built-in red targeting laser that can be seen clearly, even in daylight. It also has a bright 210 lumen LED flashlight to illuminate dark areas. The light can also be used to temporarily blind assailants.
The 7CQ features an ambidextrous safety to prevent accidental discharges.
A Central Information Display (CID)Â indicates battery power level, self-diagnostics, status data, and cartridge type.Â
The 7CQ is powered by a battery pack (non-rechargeable) and we’ve included a custom-crafted, right-handed Safariland holster for hands-free carrying as well.
The 7CQ is made from high-impact polymer that is drop tested up to 4 feet. It is weather-resistant for use in all types of environments (heavy rain, snow, etc.).
